Warhammer 40,000
Warhammer 40,000 or simply Warhammer 40K is a miniature-based tabletop game. It involves building and painting your own miniature army and pit them against others' on a dioramic 6x4 or 4x4 feet table using a standardized set of game rules. Miniature armies come in various factions, from Imperial commandos to space-faring orks, each with its own background stories (what 40K players call "fluff") and combat units.

My army, a sub-faction of the Adeptus Astartes or the Space Marines, is of the so-called Dark Angels Chapter - one of thousands of regiments of bio-enhanced supersoldiers created by the Emperor of Man to impose his will throughout the grim universe of the 41st millennium.

Dark Angels of the Adeptus Astartes
The Dark Angels Chapter is first among legions of Space Marines bred by the Emperor from his own genetic imprints. Enhanced physiologically for combat operations, they are literally Angels of Death in the battlefield, sowing fear to anyone who dared oppose their mandate. Their homeworld, Caliban - now reduced to a barren asteroid after an epic battle against their traitorous Brothers - holds the Chapter's mobile fortress-monastery called the Tower of Angels. Here, deep within the labyrinthine pathways to the underground caverns, lies the key to their monastic nature. The Dark Angels hides a millenia-long secret that compromised their honor. It is with this reason that they and their Successor Chapters are called the Unforgiven.

Gladiator Cup 2006

Location: Oberon's Warehouse, Filmore Street, Makati
Attendance: Oberon, Bobby P, Badbeef, Obi, Ricky

Gladiator Cup for Warhammer Fantasy Battles kicked off last Saturday. We were getting a grip of the newly released 7th Edition Rulebook which was, for me, basically a simplified version of the previous ruleset.

First Game: 3000pts Pitched Battle
Oberon (Tomb Kings) vs Bobby (Empire)
Winner: Oberon

Second Game: 2000pts Pitched Battle
Obi (Orcs and Goblins) vs Badbeef (Orcs and Goblins)
Winner: Obi

Me and Bozz Beef were really disappointed with how they re-structurized the new Orcs and Goblins army book. Although it's not that really craptastic, it lacked the "wow" effect that would impress us O&G players. Too bad we have to deal with it for another couple of years.

The "Game Statistics" link was updated to reflect the result of this battle.

Weekday Warrior Session Eleven

Attendance: Romy, Obi, Beefcake...

Game 1
Beefcake (CSM: World Eaters) vs Obi16 (SM: Dark Angels)
2000pts - Recon Omega

- me and my mortal Khornate enemy both have major revisions on our army list
- i concentrated my firebases on my left corner of the table while he deployed four 8-man Zerker teams congo line from one short edge to the other.
- i was able to annihilate the nearest squad down to the last Aspiring Champion which in turn two summoned the infernal Bloodletters several inches to reaching my firebases.
- my Chaplains and an 8-man Assault Squad arrived just in time to suppress the push. However, the Bloodletters, though decreasing in numbers per player combat phase, were able to hold one of my Dev Squad, a Lascan Tac Squad, a Scout Sniper Squad, 2 Chaplains, and an Assault Squad for three combat phases.
- those lost turns are critical since that meant a loss of 5 ML, 5 Sniper, 8 bolters, and a Lascannon shots for two full turns for my shooting components.
- capitalizing on the dakka shortage, his bikes zoomed from my right flank, backed up with a rabid Bloodthirster which ravaged that side of the table. that basically toppled my entire firebase.

Result: Ian won!!!
