Warhammer 40,000
Warhammer 40,000 or simply Warhammer 40K is a miniature-based tabletop game. It involves building and painting your own miniature army and pit them against others' on a dioramic 6x4 or 4x4 feet table using a standardized set of game rules. Miniature armies come in various factions, from Imperial commandos to space-faring orks, each with its own background stories (what 40K players call "fluff") and combat units.

My army, a sub-faction of the Adeptus Astartes or the Space Marines, is of the so-called Dark Angels Chapter - one of thousands of regiments of bio-enhanced supersoldiers created by the Emperor of Man to impose his will throughout the grim universe of the 41st millennium.

Dark Angels of the Adeptus Astartes
The Dark Angels Chapter is first among legions of Space Marines bred by the Emperor from his own genetic imprints. Enhanced physiologically for combat operations, they are literally Angels of Death in the battlefield, sowing fear to anyone who dared oppose their mandate. Their homeworld, Caliban - now reduced to a barren asteroid after an epic battle against their traitorous Brothers - holds the Chapter's mobile fortress-monastery called the Tower of Angels. Here, deep within the labyrinthine pathways to the underground caverns, lies the key to their monastic nature. The Dark Angels hides a millenia-long secret that compromised their honor. It is with this reason that they and their Successor Chapters are called the Unforgiven.

The Week That Was

Warmachine Philippines Pseudo-Christmas Parteeey!
With my bro, we charged to the Pit Shop last December 24 for some Warmachine action.

Present were Kim (Khador), Fred (Cryx), Emp (Cryx), Mang (Menite), and Arvin (Khador).

After grubbing some pizza, I jumped into the action, going against Fred's Cryxian warband. Results of my games that day are as follows (all were 500-point games):

Fred (Cryx) - Steamroller (4x4)
Lose
*my first formal Warmachine game

Kim (Khador) - Steamroller (4x4)
Lose

Kim (Khador) - Pendulum (4x4)
Lose

Emp (Cryx) - Steamroller (4x4)
Draw
*unfinished game

I'm very much satisfied with my games despite heavy loses. At least, I've realized how my army should work together. My army list was composed not with any working tactics or sneaky combos in mind. I just want it themed to include units with the Cygnarite lightning-manipulation technology, so my first games should really be a stage to cope up with the abilities that I was able to amass by patching up these themed units.

Unlike other "tactically" made armies, my Cygnarian warband's offensive is pretty much straightforward: my Stormblade unit will advance to tie up the enemy in mid-range combat with a Stormclad (staying in touch within 3" of it will make glaive lightning shots arc to other targets); hiding behind them while positioning strategically, are one or two Stormsmiths. I call this unit the "Hunter-Killer". They will engage the most threatening unit of the enemy, and effectively the first wave of my attack. On the other hand, acting as the second wave of attack and/or as support unit, Adept Nemo guarded by another Stormclad can act two ways: to work on the mission objective or to rapidly reach the enemy formation to create whatever havoc they can as soon as the Hunter-Killer unit ties the defensive wall down. This unit is aptly called the "Quarterback". The last Stormsmith will hide behind the Quarterback unit and deploy in Triangulization or Surge Action cohesion with the other Stormsmiths to maximize their capabilities.

When Dem Shak Lots Go Parteey!
Arriving at the Shak aboard the local Barangay Mobile (yes, I sort of got lost and hitched a ride from the Barangay's wheels) was not bad at all. The Shak's Christmas Left-Over Party last December 25 had my guts cramped with the almighty dish - SISIG (wooohoo!), some egg/pork en beans concoction, deep-fried "un-lean" meat, tuna & crackers brew, and that PUTANGINASOBRANGANGHANG ramen potion. Hehe. I just love that last dish.

I had a short game of Warmachine against Emp and his Cryxian warband, and here's the result:

Emp (Cryx) - Foothold (2.5x2.5)
Win
*I used Major Siege Brisbane as my warcaster since there's no Escalation book available that time and I don't know the stats of Commander Adept Nemo yet.

Sabi ko sa nanay ko, hindi ako magpapagabi. Kaya umaga na ko umuwi!

Ritchie (goldenboy) drove us home so I was able to bring with me the Greenskin Hoard that I inherited from the incorrigible Spawn of Gork, himself!

Thankz yer Mightiness, Garrikk! Youse lot iz in betta hans. Me will keep em well fed wif em hummies!

The latest addition was the one in your left. I've also added the decals. Weathering na lang and I'm done with these two, and isang Land Speeder na lang to go. I seriously need a good digital camera though.
