Warhammer 40,000
Warhammer 40,000 or simply Warhammer 40K is a miniature-based tabletop game. It involves building and painting your own miniature army and pit them against others' on a dioramic 6x4 or 4x4 feet table using a standardized set of game rules. Miniature armies come in various factions, from Imperial commandos to space-faring orks, each with its own background stories (what 40K players call "fluff") and combat units.

My army, a sub-faction of the Adeptus Astartes or the Space Marines, is of the so-called Dark Angels Chapter - one of thousands of regiments of bio-enhanced supersoldiers created by the Emperor of Man to impose his will throughout the grim universe of the 41st millennium.

Dark Angels of the Adeptus Astartes
The Dark Angels Chapter is first among legions of Space Marines bred by the Emperor from his own genetic imprints. Enhanced physiologically for combat operations, they are literally Angels of Death in the battlefield, sowing fear to anyone who dared oppose their mandate. Their homeworld, Caliban - now reduced to a barren asteroid after an epic battle against their traitorous Brothers - holds the Chapter's mobile fortress-monastery called the Tower of Angels. Here, deep within the labyrinthine pathways to the underground caverns, lies the key to their monastic nature. The Dark Angels hides a millenia-long secret that compromised their honor. It is with this reason that they and their Successor Chapters are called the Unforgiven.

IPMS-BAC/UP-CFA Build Session

I was at the modelling workshop last Saturday together with other 40K players and I was able to finish assembling and priming a couple of my Marines, three of which will be rosters for my ten-man missile launcher Devastator Squad.

The place was definitely cooL and with a fishball stand just a couple of paces away, it's so perfect a place to work with my figs. Enjoy pa, since working alongside veteran modellers exudes this feel of encouragement... of this "push" to keep my lazy arse to finish my miniatures. If only it could be nearer to my house (Pasay City) though. Bummer. But shifting to a regular morning work hours on the 26th will definitely free up my Saturdays and I might be able to be a regular there if ever.

I also had the privilege to be on the "Shak"... literally a modelling haven with every tools and stuffs available at disposal there. Some of the best 40K modellers are mainstays of the place so it should be a nice a hangout. A really cooL one.

Thanks Arvin, the Orkz... Paul, Garr, Gelo, also Jacob (Irongut daw hehe peace), Sir Jun, and the people of IPMS-BAC for the company! (...and the cake and pizza slices!)

Also, we hanged out at the Pit Shop and looking at the new arrivals of Warmachine figs gave me this spark of idea on what my Cygnar list will compose of. Instead of buying the Cygnar Starter Set, iL assemble a themed Storm Unit:

Strikeforce Thunderstorm
Commander Coleman Stryker
2 Cygnar Stormclad
A unit of Cygnar Stormblades
A unit of Cygnar Longgunners

I dunno how much is the point cost of this group but I reckon it will fall just a bit past 500. I was thinking if id rather have 2 units of Cygnar Stormblades. I still have to learn more about the rules anyway so iL leave it to that for now.

I might start with Warmachine after the Kolat Cup.

Pahabol: I wasn't able to join the Jam Cup. I went with the boyz in UP that Saturday with a mere 2 hour sleep and I was only able to get home at around 11pm na ata yun ba?! Basta, the next day I couldn't force myself to stand from my bed kahit aware ako na start na ang Jam Cup. Hehe. Sayang.
