Warhammer 40,000
Warhammer 40,000 or simply Warhammer 40K is a miniature-based tabletop game. It involves building and painting your own miniature army and pit them against others' on a dioramic 6x4 or 4x4 feet table using a standardized set of game rules. Miniature armies come in various factions, from Imperial commandos to space-faring orks, each with its own background stories (what 40K players call "fluff") and combat units.

My army, a sub-faction of the Adeptus Astartes or the Space Marines, is of the so-called Dark Angels Chapter - one of thousands of regiments of bio-enhanced supersoldiers created by the Emperor of Man to impose his will throughout the grim universe of the 41st millennium.

Dark Angels of the Adeptus Astartes
The Dark Angels Chapter is first among legions of Space Marines bred by the Emperor from his own genetic imprints. Enhanced physiologically for combat operations, they are literally Angels of Death in the battlefield, sowing fear to anyone who dared oppose their mandate. Their homeworld, Caliban - now reduced to a barren asteroid after an epic battle against their traitorous Brothers - holds the Chapter's mobile fortress-monastery called the Tower of Angels. Here, deep within the labyrinthine pathways to the underground caverns, lies the key to their monastic nature. The Dark Angels hides a millenia-long secret that compromised their honor. It is with this reason that they and their Successor Chapters are called the Unforgiven.

The Week That Was

Warmachine Philippines Pseudo-Christmas Parteeey!
With my bro, we charged to the Pit Shop last December 24 for some Warmachine action.

Present were Kim (Khador), Fred (Cryx), Emp (Cryx), Mang (Menite), and Arvin (Khador).

After grubbing some pizza, I jumped into the action, going against Fred's Cryxian warband. Results of my games that day are as follows (all were 500-point games):

Fred (Cryx) - Steamroller (4x4)
Lose
*my first formal Warmachine game

Kim (Khador) - Steamroller (4x4)
Lose

Kim (Khador) - Pendulum (4x4)
Lose

Emp (Cryx) - Steamroller (4x4)
Draw
*unfinished game

I'm very much satisfied with my games despite heavy loses. At least, I've realized how my army should work together. My army list was composed not with any working tactics or sneaky combos in mind. I just want it themed to include units with the Cygnarite lightning-manipulation technology, so my first games should really be a stage to cope up with the abilities that I was able to amass by patching up these themed units.

Unlike other "tactically" made armies, my Cygnarian warband's offensive is pretty much straightforward: my Stormblade unit will advance to tie up the enemy in mid-range combat with a Stormclad (staying in touch within 3" of it will make glaive lightning shots arc to other targets); hiding behind them while positioning strategically, are one or two Stormsmiths. I call this unit the "Hunter-Killer". They will engage the most threatening unit of the enemy, and effectively the first wave of my attack. On the other hand, acting as the second wave of attack and/or as support unit, Adept Nemo guarded by another Stormclad can act two ways: to work on the mission objective or to rapidly reach the enemy formation to create whatever havoc they can as soon as the Hunter-Killer unit ties the defensive wall down. This unit is aptly called the "Quarterback". The last Stormsmith will hide behind the Quarterback unit and deploy in Triangulization or Surge Action cohesion with the other Stormsmiths to maximize their capabilities.

When Dem Shak Lots Go Parteey!
Arriving at the Shak aboard the local Barangay Mobile (yes, I sort of got lost and hitched a ride from the Barangay's wheels) was not bad at all. The Shak's Christmas Left-Over Party last December 25 had my guts cramped with the almighty dish - SISIG (wooohoo!), some egg/pork en beans concoction, deep-fried "un-lean" meat, tuna & crackers brew, and that PUTANGINASOBRANGANGHANG ramen potion. Hehe. I just love that last dish.

I had a short game of Warmachine against Emp and his Cryxian warband, and here's the result:

Emp (Cryx) - Foothold (2.5x2.5)
Win
*I used Major Siege Brisbane as my warcaster since there's no Escalation book available that time and I don't know the stats of Commander Adept Nemo yet.

Sabi ko sa nanay ko, hindi ako magpapagabi. Kaya umaga na ko umuwi!

Ritchie (goldenboy) drove us home so I was able to bring with me the Greenskin Hoard that I inherited from the incorrigible Spawn of Gork, himself!

Thankz yer Mightiness, Garrikk! Youse lot iz in betta hans. Me will keep em well fed wif em hummies!

The Phantom Wing

I've posted this in the Oberon Sector forum, inside a thread asking for your army's fluff. Here's mine:

I call my Dark Angels strike force the Phantom Wing.

They are a splinter group composed of Space Marines from the 4th Battle Company, landspeeders and bikes from the Ravenwing, and Dreadnoughts and Terminators from the Deathwing.

Formed through the collaboration of Interrogator-Chaplain Kiel and Epistolary Methuselah, these personally hand-picked warriors and advocates of Chaplain Kiel's aggressive, unorthodox methods of hunting down the Fallen went on a rogue crusade aboard a commandeered Battle Barge... their mission: to track down and eradicate (on the spot) all of their traitor brethren - no taking prisoners, no rites of penance! Death for repentance!

As if to emphasize their divergence, the Dark Angels of the Phantom Wing wore the light green trims - Codex color for the 4th Company - and stormcloud purple shoulder pads - believed to be the color of the burning eyes of the Lion Primarch, as he appeared on an apparition to Chaplain Kiel.

This vision of the Holy Progenitor was the reason for the Master of Sancity's formation of the Phantom Wing.

Ravenwing Land Speeder Tornado (Tempest)

Finally, I was able to finish painting my first "Leeeeeendspeeder"! I like it when Gelo says that word. (Decals to follow...)

Ok, first off... purist Dark Angels players will comment on how the hell my Land Speeder and its Space Marine operators had a color other than jet black?? I like violet. I want the color to appear on my "dark green" army and my "black" Ravenwing squadron. As consequence, I need to justify it via a fluff... thus, they are not a "basic" Dark Angels army but more of a "rogue" one - a splinter detachment... something like a successor Chapter but is not.

Second, f#$k my camera. Hehe. I'm not saying that this fig should have looked better, but there are several spots in the Land Speeder that's not given justice with on this photos. An example is the headlamp (supposed to be that white thing past the right wing of the aquila symbol). O, kita ba?? Hindi di ba?? Crap. And I'd rather buy a few more Land Speeders than a new digital camera. Heh.

Third, I want my Speeders durrty. I wish I'd made them so. Besides, that's what I'm good with... keeping stuffs a mess. Hehe.

Fourth, by the power vested upon me by the Priest Adepts of Mars, I name thy machine spirit... Tempest! ...'stig!

I went to the IPMS Nationals last Saturday at the Megamall Atrium, and among the contestants, this is my favorite entry...

That's a USS Nimitz aircraft carrier... a fully detailed one!

There were a couple of cooL entries on the Sci-Fi genre too... but still my personal favorite (and not because he's my Ork Warboss chum) is the 1000+ part PG Gundam by Pork (Paul) the Mork Spawn...

I stole 4 Ogre Leadbelchers from Emp last Saturday too. Bwahahahaha. Nice paint job man.

Got Me Some

War Machine
Got me my first War Machine game with Emp (solitaire) and his Cryxian warband last Saturday in UP-CFA.

I borrowed a Cygnarian starter box to Jun (falin) consisting of a Lancer, Charger, Ironclad, and Commander Stryker (around 300 points). Emp's warcasters has this Egregore, I aptly called the Yagbadoodles.

Look at the egg-looking fig here for the pic of his Yagbadoodles (that doesnt sound right... hehe):
http://kamotechronicles.blogspot.com/2005/11/finished-terminus-egregore-wip.html

I won the game, after the Cryxian Witches risked a manouever to disable my Ironclad and failed. I know there will be no mercy for Emp's Cryxian warband next time so I better paint my own Cygnarite Storm-themed army.

Can't wait for Mang's (mangsky) stuffs to arrive! Stormblade Captain and Standard Bearer!

Warhammer Fantasy
Got me my first Fantasy figs. Yep, I'm planning to start a Fantasy army by early next year. This will expand my knowledge to three tabletop wargames... Warhammer 40,000, War Machine, and Warhammer Fantasy! More rules to clatter my mind!

Anyway, I will be playing the unpredictable hoardes of the Orcs and Goblins! I already borrowed the Fantasy Rulebook and the O&G Army Book from Warboss Gelo (badbeef). My first figs are consist of a regiment of Orc Boys, Arrer Boys, and an Orc Boar Chariot!

Salamat, alam mo na kung sino ka!! Hehe.

Waaagh!!!!
